TWP 1500 is the low VOC member of the TWP family: the same idea as TWP 100 - an oil-based stain that penetrates and preserves - in a formula with fewer VOCs, so it can be sold anywhere. If your state is on the VOC list, this is your TWP.

TWP 1500 is an EPA-registered wood preservative for above-ground exterior wood - decks, fences, siding, log homes and wood roofs, whether the wood is new or was treated before. Its semi-transparent pigments absorb UV so the wood doesn't gray, darken or fade as quickly, and the mildewcides slow down the black and green growth that makes a deck look old. Because it keeps water out of the boards, it also cuts down on warping, splitting and freeze damage in cold climates.

Clear 1500 does not contain UV protection. For a deck in full sun, choose a tinted color.
Dealer tips for a good 1500 job
- Clean first. Gray, weathered wood takes stain unevenly - a Restore-A-Deck cleaning and brightening fixes that.
- Let the wood dry out completely after washing before you stain.
- Apply in the shade or on a mild day around 70°F so it soaks in rather than flashing off.
- Clean brushes and tools with mineral spirits.
